.Surf associated with a large northwest swell that peaked Sunday
will hold through the day today at warning levels for north and
west facing shores on the smaller islands, then drop to advisory 
levels tonight into Tuesday. Advisory level surf will continue on 
the Big Island today for exposed north and west facing shores.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS EVENING...
...HIGH SURF WARNING IS CANCELLED...

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf
Advisory, which is in effect until 6 PM HST this evening. The
High Surf Warning has been cancelled. 

* SURF...Along west facing shores of the Big Island, surf will be
  5 to 8 feet. Along exposed north facing shores, surf will be 10
  to 15 feet. 

* TIMING...Surf will gradually diminish below advisory levels
  tonight. 

* IMPACTS...Moderate...Expect strong breaking waves, shore 
  break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming 
  difficult and dangerous. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Always heed lifeguard advice and know your limits. When in doubt,
do not go out.

...HIGH SURF WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS EVENING...

* SURF...Along north and west facing shores of Niihau and Kauai,
  and north facing shores of Oahu, Molokai, and Maui, surf will be
  20 to 30 feet. Along west facing shores of Oahu and Molokai, 
  surf will be 12 to 20 feet. 

* TIMING...Surf will gradually trend down to advisory levels
  tonight into Tuesday. 

* IMPACTS...High...Expect ocean water occasionally sweeping across
  portions of beaches, very strong breaking waves, and strong
  longshore and rip currents. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Large breaking surf, significant shorebreak, and dangerous
currents make entering the water very hazardous. Inexperienced 
persons should remain off beaches and adjacent beachfront areas. 
Surf events of this caliber also have the ability to cause 
significant impacts to shorelines, especially those already 
susceptible to erosion.
