The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the

* Flood advisory for...
  The island of Maui in Maui County

* Until 630 PM HST

* At 322 PM HST, radar indicated a widespread area of moderate rain 
  moving over Maui from the southwest, with some embedded heavier 
  showers. Runoff remains high, ponding continues in low-lying areas 
  and portions of South Kihei Road in Kihei are closed to traffic 
  due to water on the roadway. 

* This advisory includes the entire island of Maui. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to
flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 630 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.
